MLK would not have liked it

So what is there to kvetch about today? Oh, plenty and most of it coming from the general direction of Iraq, where two other bad guys and Saddam relatives were hanged, one of which was decapitated in the process. Again somebody had the good taste of filming this incident as well. These people may be barbaric, but they really understand the power and immediacy of our new media age, something that our leaders still seem unable to understand. This Iraq thing cannot possibly get more revolting (well, it can and it will; this is only a rhetorical flourish). My indignant objection is that the United States is directly responsible for these grizzly proceedings, whether we like it or not, whether the Bush administration pretends to wash its filthy hands of the whole deal or not. As I've said before, I don't think this country has ever sunk this low, to be associated with these revolting hangings and decapitations and medieval stuff that has no business with anything that the US is supposed to stand for, much less the so touted freedom and democracy that Bush expels from his mouth every two seconds like a pestilent cough, and that we're supposed to be ramming down the throats of these barbaric people.
